Easy + cheap, minimalist + stylish all at once, give Mother Nature some love this Christmas! Did you know most wrapping paper is not recyclable? This was a new fact to me, and really made me think about how much waste lands up in our landfills after the holidays. This comes on top of the plastic packaging our store-bought gifts usually come in. This Christmas, I've tried to be conscious of buying local, useable gifts, that are made of recyclable material (such as paper- eg. books, journals, glass). I've also tried to use recyclable and biodegradable products for wrapping paper. This short blog post can be used for your own inspiration this Christmas - I'd love to see your creations!
Supplies:
- scissors
- tape
- twine
- greenery
- recycled-paper gift wrap
The greenery can be cut from your garden or neighbourhood bushes! The holly-like leaves and evergreen spray was cut from my patio bushes; a little goes a long way! I have yet to find a plastic-free tape- but please send me a DM on Instagram (@antheia) if you have! I found this recycled gift wrap from the Dollar Store near my place. Another way to cut down on waste would be to directly write your 'tos' and 'froms' directly on the wrapping paper!
Enjoy this special time of year. Wishing you a holiday season filled with love, laughter, good friends, good wine, + your favourite people! Give this post a pin if you'd like to try it later. Connect with me on Instagram if you have more ways to make this holiday season a bit more eco-friendly!
